The New Year is off to a great start and the league is currently gearing up for the upcoming Spring season.

We recently attended the MA Youth Soccer workshop in Fitchburg, MA where we shared a booth with our partner WeGotSoccer. The event was very well attended and it provided the NSL the opportunity to catch-up with existing members as well as meeting new friends who were interested in learning more about the league.

The overall feedback we received was extremely positive and a big thank you to all our members who stopped by our booth. It’s great to know that we all share the same vision and that we are all enthusiastic about the league’s new direction.

We had some great conversations discussing the new branding, the improved communications, and how we are bringing the membership together to move the league forward. These are all very positive signs and our continued aim is to adopt a more collaborative approach so all of our members contribute to the success of the league moving forward.

Our post-workshop social event was also a great success. We had over 60 NSL members stop by for some light refreshments and discussion. It was great to see everyone and thank you for taking the time to attend the event.

Also, thank you to all those members who attended our recent referee and Director of Coaching workshop. Our goal was to bring together a group of DOC’s to share dialogue and exchange ideas on how referees and coaches can work together to improve the soccer experience for all our players, coaches, parents, and fans. You can check out photos from the workshop on our Facebook page.

Finally, as we approach the start of the new Spring season, I could not be happier about the direction of the league. We are continually working hard to deliver value-added services to all our members that will provide opportunities and pathways to Compete, Develop and Succeed!

Happy new year to all our member clubs!   I would like to take this opportunity to remind you of some very important events coming up over the next few months, regarding coach and club development.

As the weather starts to warm thoughts start to turn towards the spring and getting out on the field. We have been very busy behind the scenes getting things prepared and also adding several workshops and education opportunities for our clubs and coaches. In the last month, we have been involved in workshops with MA Youth Soccer and this past weekend at the Champions Coaches Clinic. Tom Goodman delivered a practical session and workshop to over 100 coaches going through their E license. It was great to see many of our clubs represented at the event and also Rams FC provided their 2003 Boys team to demonstrate during a session and were easily one of the best teams in attendance! Check out the photos below.

We also held a workshop with US Officials who are our partner and provider of referees for the season. It was really valuable to hear from their staff as well as members of our clubs on some of the challenges we both face and how we can come up with a plan to combat them in the future. Based on the input from our member clubs we have created a new Referee Evaluation form so we can continue to provide quality feedback during the season.

There are a number of upcoming meetings and workshops over the next few weeks and I encourage you to have your staff attend as many as possible. In the month of March, our partner NSCAA will be providing a 7v7/9v9 Diploma, 11v11 Diploma and DOC Diploma whilst Positive Coaching Alliance will be delivering a workshop to our DOC’s on best practices for “Leading your Organization”. The NSL Regional Elite league will be meeting with those clubs invited to participate and we will also continue to meet with respective DOC’s to discuss how best to develop our league as we move forwards. In addition, we will also be holding a College Recruitment Seminar and a meeting with all the 9U clubs regarding the new season.

So as you can see lots going on for the spring season and beyond as we continue to support our member clubs commitment to Compete, Develop and Succeed!
