Executive Director News

I’d like to start off by wishing all of the NSL teams that have advanced to the USYS 2018 Regional Championships in Virginia to be played June 29-July 03. Click here, to check out the full schedules for all the teams competing.

A final reminder to all clubs to register for the upcoming fall season. You can register your teams by clicking on the NSL Fall Registration Link and you can read the registration instructions guide here. The fall season starts on September 9th and will run for 9 weeks ending on November 11th.

I’d also like to remind all our members of the upcoming US Club Soccer LaLiga Formation Methodology course in Taunton, MA on July 27-29. The NSL will reimburse coaches with teams registered for fall 2018 play with an additional $50 when they complete the course.

And finally, I’d like to reiterate the positive news relating to our newly formed strategic partnerships with Seacoast United and the Northern New England Soccer League. Both partnerships will greatly benefit our NSL member clubs and will provide new and exciting player, coach, and club development initiatives. Our continued aim is to develop and strengthen the league by providing the best environment and opportunities for all members to compete, develop, and succeed.

Technical Director News

I want to wish all the best to some of our clubs who will be taking teams to represent their respective state this weekend in the US Youth Soccer Eastern Regional Championships. New England Rush, Nova, and Hammer have teams competing as state champions from MA whilst in VT Nordic have state winners and in RI we have the Rams FC and the RI Rush.

Recap of 12U NSL Winners’ Cup
Thanks to all the teams that competed in our 12U Winners’ Cup over the June 2nd and 3rd weekend. We had 8 boys and 6 girls team competing and on Saturday with 4 fields being occupied our expert crew of referees, field marshals and trainers made sure everything ran smoothly. On the boy’s side we had 2 groups with Mutiny FC, Galway Rovers, United Soccer Club and the New England Navigators whilst in the second we had JSSA, Strikers United, South Shore Select, and Mach 1 FC. South Shore Select swept all before them and eventually beat a spirited United SC in the final who made it past some very tough teams in their group.

Meanwhile with the girls being 2 groups of 3 the schedule meant that on the Sunday St Michaels had to win their final game against Strikers United for the privilege of playing them again the final. Along with these 2 teams were Strikers United Nashoba, Green Lions, Explosion and Nova. After beating Strikers United 3-2 in their final game the 2 teams played each other again and after full time they could not be superheated as we ended with a 1-1 tie. That meant the dreaded penalty kicks which saw Strikers United get the win but really it would have been great to see both teams pick up the Winners’ Cup after such a great game.

Important News about upcoming Coach Development opportunities
We are thrilled to announce that our partners at US Club will be hosting a LaLiga Formation Methodology level 3 courses from July 27-29 at Taunton Forekicks. There is limited space available for this event and there is an early bird discount from US Club Soccer of $50 for early registration up until Monday, June 4th.

In addition as our commitment to Coach Development, the NSL will also reimburse any NSL coaches with teams registered for fall 2018 play with an additional $50 when they complete the course. Having taken this course myself I can fully recommend it as a great option for all our coaches and it would be great to see as many NSL clubs represented as possible
